ABOUT ME

I'm originally from San Jose, California, where I grew up with an older brother and sister. As a high school student, I joined the track and field team. My main interests at that time were talking with my friends and playing videogames.

I attended the University of California, Santa Cruz (Go Slugs!) as an undergraduate, where I spent my free time walking in the forest and watching midnight movies downtown.

My first job after university was with a non-profit organization called Reading Partners. In the summer of 2011, I moved to Japan and began working as an assistant language teacher (ALT) at a public high school. After several years of ALT work, which also took me to kindergartens and nursery schools, I enrolled in a Masters of Art in Teaching program with an emphasis on TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages).

I began teaching at the university level in 2017, and that's where I am today.

Once in a while I take decent pictures, so enjoy some of my best shots below.
